International Woolmark Prize British Isles Winners Announced

We would like to congratulate CFE alumnus Matthew Miller who last week was announced as the menswear winner of the 2017/18 International Woolmark Prize British Isles regional final. Samantha McCoach of Le Kilt was also announced the winner for womenswear at the awards event held in London.

The 2 finalists were selected from a shortlisted list of emerging design talent, with 6 of the 7 nominees, current and alumni supported businesses of CFE programmes:

Menswear: Liam Hodges (Fashion Accelerate), Phoebe English Man (Alumna)

Womenswear: Helen Lawrence (Alumna), ROBERTS | WOOD (Fashion Accelerate), Sadie Williams (Pioneer)

The winners will receive a financial contribution of AU$70,000, plus the opportunity to compete in the prestigious international final where they will be required to develop a capsule collection in Merino wool. In addition, each winner will receive mentoring support from a global panel of experts along with being granted a Woolmark licence.

“Winning the prize is amazing and receiving recognition from your peers on your designs, including the judging panel is fantastic. Wool is one of the most important and luxury materials and a high-performance fibre but I wanted to give it a much more youthful feel.” – Matthew Miller

We wish both the best of luck for the final!
